Eye Makeup

Eye makeup has always been my enemy! With sensitive eyes I never bothered with eyeliner, eyeshadow, and fake eyelashes. It wasn’t until recent years I finally started experimenting with some products and below is what I have learned. Always remember if you have any eye irritation from a product remove it immediately!

Mascara

I am a true believer makeup doesn’t need to be expensive, but mascara is the one thing I will splurge on. The eyes are too important to take a chance with something that you will be using everyday so close to the eye. This is why I use Chanel’s Inimitable Mascara because it goes on smooth and never flakes. Some mascara’s that dry out easily and flake can get into your eyes and cause irritation so find one that is hydrating! You can find Chanel Mascara at Nordstrom.

If your not looking to spend that kind of $$$ on mascara check on Covergirl mascara that also do the job well. Just make sure to always have a fresh tube and toss it whenever its flaking too much. You can find Covergirl on Amazon or Target.

Eyeliner

Eyeliner has been something I just avoid unfortunately. Gel, liquid, pencil, all of it has caused awful reactions on my sensitive skin! The only solution I have found is using an eyeshadow and lightly putting it on. For me the irritation and skin reactions I have had have been so severe I prefer not to wear anything on that part of my eyelid. The best part of makeup is its how YOU want to express yourself. So never wear something not comfortable on your own skin.

Eyeshadow

Eyeshadow can be great but it can also be a nightmare! This is a product I suggest finding one brand and sticking with it! Make sure to use a good primer so the eyeshadow stays in place and doesn’t go near the eyes, and unfortunately the more shimmer I find the more likely to cause irritation. I used Beauty Pie’s eyeshadow palettes and love this matte one especially.

Fake Eyelashes

Another product I almost gave up on! For someone with sensitive skin the glue can cause severe reactions. Also the magnetic lashes that use gel liners can also cause irritation. The only product that I have found that worked was magnetic eyelashes with no type of adhesive. I recommend something like these on Amazon or these at Sephora. They are double layer and stay on by “clicking” into place basically. Perfect for the sensitive eye and so much easier to put on!

Pro Tip: If you can’t handle traditional eyeshadows use other products! Use your bronzer, eyebrow color, highlighters, etc. These products already agree with your skin and can be used in a multitude of ways. I find the this all in one palette does the trick from Beauty Pie.
